Why does it become difficult to sit up in bed?

A little hormone called Relaxin….Relaxin is a hormone that is produced during pregnancy which causes pelvic and cervical expansion and relaxation.  Expanding joints accompanied by the weight of the pregnant belly make it more difficult to sit up, roll over, and get into and out of bed during the third trimester and during the post-partum period.

It is not uncommon for women to find it not only awkward, but sometimes difficult and painful to position themselves in bed.  Many women find that they are trying to perform some type of clever maneuver to get into or out of bed, or may even need to grab their partner's arm for leverage.

Towards the end of the 3rd trimester, when it's again time to make frequent trips to the bathroom, this task may seem even more daunting than ever.

Finally there is some real help we've all been waiting for!

Think you like your body pillow?  You're going to LOVE your Bed-Pal!

Some Information on Common Back & Pelvic Pain
Back pain & pelvic pain during pregnancy

“Back pain or discomfort is common during pregnancy and should be expected to some degree by most women. Back pain may be experienced during any point of your pregnancy; however, it most commonly occurs later in the pregnancy as the weight of the baby increases. Back pain can disrupt your daily routine or interfere with a good night of sleep. The good news is there are steps you can take to manage the back pain that you experience.”

“How common is back pain during pregnancy?  You are not alone if you are experiencing back pain during your pregnancy.  The prevalence varies with reports, showing between 50 to 70 percent of all pregnant women having back pain.”
